The client was unsatisfied with the facade design of a 45 000m2 housing block in the west of Moscow. It turned out that in the process of redesigning the facade we ended up in rearranging the apartments and volumetric of the entire building.
The L – shape volume is oriented to a green boulevard on the east side, the north side is facing a busy street. The east side dwellings are provided with loggias, the facades facing the inner courtyard have balconies facing south and west. The north side has no balconies or loggias, though there all apartments have double sided orientation. The lay out of the small jumping balconies in the courtyard prevent tenants from adding DIY winter gardens.
The prefabricated concrete facade is covered in the production process with tiles, stripes of various colours which give the building a wooden appearance seen from distance. Lay out of the tiles and joints between the tiles and the prefabricated panels were designed to make the building appear monolithic.
